PARK(ing) Day
PARK(ing) Day will not be taking place in 2023. Unfortunately, due to capacity issues, carrying out an event won't be possible, but we aim to bring the event back in 2024! Thank you for your understanding.
What is PARK(ing) Day?
PARK(ing) Day is an annual, international event where citizens, artists and businesses collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into PARK(ing) spaces: pop-up public places. Throughout Hyattsville in the 3rd week of September, you will find PARK(ing) spaces set up so you can enjoy temporary parks in spaces typically reserved for cars. Hyattsville has particated in PARK(ing) Day for several years, and spaces are created by community members, businesses, and nonprofits in our community!
How can my business or organization get involved?
The City of Hyattsville accepts applications from businesses and organizations to create a PARK(ing) space typically spring to summer each year. There is no theme for PARK(ing) Day, except for some safety precautions and a prohibition on selling products and services, your imagination is the limit! Keep in mind that your group will be responsible for all set up and tear down of your park.
Businesses and organizations will receive a $100 gift card to help create the space. Participation also includes T-shirts for your group and promotion of your participation in PARK(ing) Day on the City's website, social media, and newsletters.

2022 PARK(ing) Day
2022 was a momentus return of PARK(ing) Day after a 2-year hiatus. We had a record number of people participate! It featured a wide range of different organizations and businesses, and for the first time ever, was paired with the last Summer Jam of the season in Hyatt Park! With over 26 spaces spread across the City's three business corridors, we were excited to see such an abundance of creative and interesting ideas. Thank you so much to all those who participated in PARK(ing) Day!
