Short-term Rentals

The City of Hyattsville administers the inspections and licensing of short-termal rental properties within City limits. This includes rooms, basements, or whole properties rented through platforms like Airbnb or VRBO.

All homeowners that rent their property are required to secure a City of Hyattsville Single-Family Residential Rental License annually. Note: Homeowners that operate a short-term rental are required to obtain a Short Term Rental License from Prince Georges County in addition to obtaining a single-family rental license from the City of Hyattsville.

Short-term rental properties that fall outside of City limits and in a Prince George's County unincorporated area inspected and licensed by the Prince George's County Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement (DPIE). You can find their application here.

If you suspect a property is being rented as a short-term rental without a license, we encourage you to contact the City at (301) 985-5014.
