The City of Hyattsville has many recreational activities for kids of all ages! Learn more about our youth programs for toddlers to teens below.

We encourage everyone to create a free RecDesk account and sign up for City notices to receive updates and more information about upcoming programs. Space in all programs is limited and available first come, first served. Wait lists are available for most programs.

Programs for Toddlers

Creative Minds / Mentes Creativas

Creative Minds is a toddler-adult program providing enriching educational & interactive multilingual (English, Spanish, and some American Sign Language) activities. The program introduces participants to movement, art, music, literacy, and free play


Programs for Elementary Schoolers (K-5 grade)

Mini- and Early Dismissal Camp Days!

If school's out, Hyattsville Mini Camps are in session! Register your student in grades k-5 for a day of fun on days PGCPS schools are closed.

Night Owls

Hyattsville's Night Owls offers fun, interactive, and educational activities from 6 - 9 PM for children in grades K - 5. Children can be dropped off for the evening while parents/guardians get a night out!

Spring & Winter Break Camps

Quality recreational programs for elementary aged students during the PGCPS Spring and Winter break weeks.

Summer Camp

Join us at Camp Hyattsville over the summer! Camps provide summertime fun and exploration for children in grades K-5. 

Tutoring and Mentoring

The City offers free tutoring services for children in grades k-12 through Northstar Tutoring. 


Programs for Middle & High Schoolers (6-12 grade)

Youth Center

The City of Hyattsville Teen Center offers free programs for teenagers in our community to connect outside of school and gain valuable leadership skills.

Camp Coach in Training

Camp Coaches in Training gain job training skills applicable to City Camp leadership or other youth engagement positions. Participants can also earn up to 100 Community Service Learning hours through the program.

Camp Exploration & Camp Staycation

Rising 6 - 12 graders can participate in free trips and activities while on summer vacation and days PGCPS schools are closed!

Tutoring and Mentoring

The City offers free tutoring services for children in grades k-12 through Northstar Tutoring. 

Youth Advisory Council

The City's Youth Advisory Council is a formally appointed volunteer leadership body that reports to Hyattsville's Mayor and Council. Members are responsible for reviewing and proposing legislative items and recommendations concerning teenagers and youth in the City.


Programs for College-Bound Students 

Educational Path Scholarship

The Educational Path Scholarship supports Hyattsville high school seniors and graduates pursuing post-secondary education and career paths.
