The City uses multiple methods to inform residents about governance, operations, events and activities. They include the following:

Emergency Safety Alerts

The City of Hyattsville uses Nixle to send emergency email and/or text alerts to residents concerning safety and road conditions. Sign up here or text your zip code to to 888-777.

Senior Newsletter

To learn about upcoming Senior and Disability programs, please visit the City Calendar or contact the City's senior services staff at seniors@hyattsville.org or (301) 985-5000 to be added to our mailing list.  

Social Media

The City has a social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Informational updates, photos and more are posted regularly.

The Hyattsville City Police Department also has a presence on Facebook and Twitter. The HCPD Facility Dog, Nola, has an Instagram handle at k9nola_hcpd.

Therefore, although members of the public may be permitted by the site's design to post comments, the City of Hyattsville reserves the right to delete any comments, including those that contain profanity, sexual content or links to sexual content, discriminatory comments made on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, marital status, or national orientation, solicitations, promote illegal activities, threaten the safety of others or the public, and those not related to the initial posting. Posts and comments are public and subject to disclosure.

City social media sites are not monitored 24/7.

The Hyattsville Reporter

The City's official newsletter is printed in English and Spanish and mailed to residences within City limits twice per month - once as a standalone publication printed on green paper (the "green sheet") and once as the center pages of the Hyattsville Life and Times newspaper. The Hyattsville Life and Times is a nonprofit newspaper published independently, and the City purchases these pages as advertising space.

Hyattsville City Television

The City broadcasts City Council meetings, informational videos, and City updates on our cable station. For Verizon subscribers, the station airs on channel 12, and for Comcast subscribers on channel 71. The station can also be streamed live, and Council meetings can be viewed on demand
