Business Development Corridors
The City of Hyattsville is home to three active business development corridors.
- The Prince George's Plaza Transit District is zoned to promote higher density, pedestrian and transit-oriented mixed-use development. It includes University Town Center, Belcrest Center, The Mall at Prince George's and The Shops at Metro.
- The West Hyattsville Metro corridor consists of the Queens Chapel Shopping Center, and is expected to experience considerable high-density, transit-oriented development in the near future.
- The Gateway Arts & Entertainment District starts north at the Riverdale Park border and continues south through the EYA development, Franklin's Restaurant, Melrose Park, and includes the Melrose Park Industrial Area. This area is a designated Arts and Entertainment District by the State of Maryland.
Resources for Businesses
The City offers numerous programs to support businesses and developers including the revitalization Tax Credit program and two grant opportunities: Commercial Facade Improvement program (CFI) and Corridor Investment Program (CIP).

Business Retention Strategy
The City of Hyattsville is in the process of developing a comprehensive Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Strategy, It is the City's intention to include the following items within this strategy: (1.) Toolkit of policies and programming related to retaining our current small and locally owned businesses, (2.) Strategy for servicing businesses needing to expand their facilities and/or marketplace, and (3.) Opportunity for business recovery through short-term and long-term resiliency.
