The City of Hyattsville Police Department invites you to partake in its upcoming "Super Process Hiring Event" for the positions of Entry-Level and Lateral Police Officer. The expediated event, scheduled for Saturday, March 4th, 2023, will see the department administering the Written Exam, Physical Agility Test, Oral Interviews, and Computerized Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA).
Individuals interested in beginning a career with the City of Hyattsville Police Department will be afforded the opportunity to condense a majority of the hiring process. Upon successful completion, applicants will come out of the event with their status in the initial parts of the background phase.
If you were unable to make the first round of the Super Process that was scheduled if February this is your chance!!!
The following is the expected timeline for the event:
- Thursday, March 2, 2023: Application Deadline - Participants will be required to complete a City of Hyattsville application (found here) and submit it to JoinHPD@hyattsville.org. Upon receipt of the application, participants will be provided a link to the department's Personal History Statement (PHS), also known as the "Blue Book." Applicants are expected to complete their PHS and either submit it electronically or bring the completed PHS with them to turn in.
- Saturday, March 4, 2023: Expediated Hiring Components Day #1 - This starts the first day of the "Super Process Hiring Event." Applicants will be permitted to wear their PAT clothing to the written exam. After the PAT applicants will be provided time for both lunch and to change into business attire in preparation for the Oral Interview phase.
- 9:00 a.m.: Written Exam (Entry-Level) - This exam is compiled to test basic arithmetic, reading and comprehension, as well as spelling and grammar.
- 11:00 a.m.: Physical Agility Test (Entry-Level) - Individuals taking the PAT are required to bring with them a Medical Authorization/Waiver (found here), completed by their medical provider. The PAT consists of a total of 7 components, broken into two categories, MPSTC requirements/standards and HPD agency requirements/standards:
- MPSTC Requirements:
- Barrier Climb - Applicant must be able to successfully climb over a barrier (Pass/Fail)
- Dummy Drag - Applicant must be able to successfully pull/drag an object weighing 150lbs a minimum of 15ft. (Pass/Fail)
- Distance Run - Applicant must be able to successfully run for a distance of at least 300ft. (Pass/Fail)
- Stair Climb - Applicant must be able to successfully traverse, up and down, at least two flights of stairs. (Pass/Fail)
- HPD Agency Requirements:
- Push-ups - Applicant must be able to perform, within 1-minute, full body push-ups as outlined below.
- Sit-ups - Applicant must be able to perform, within 1-minute, bent leg sit-ups as outlined below.

- MPSTC Requirements:
- 1:00 p.m.: Oral Interview (Entry-Level and Lateral) - The interview shall be held in front of a panel of interviewers.
- Expediated Hiring Day #2 -This starts the second day of the "Super Process Hiring Event" for those applicants who successfully pass the previous day's components.
- Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA) (Entry-Level and Lateral) - As scheduled, applicants will complete their CVSA with an assigned examiner.
