Be a part of the Gateway District's Community Emergency Response Team!
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about the hazards that may impact their region and train them in basic disaster response skills. During an incident, emergency service personnel may not be able to reach everyone right away. By training in the CERT program, you will have the skills to help emergency responders save lives and protect property.
Using training provided by FEMA and coordinated by the Prince George's County Office of Emergency Management, CERT teams will support first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims and organize volunteers at a disaster site.
The Gateway District is inclusive of the communities along the Route 1 corridor adjacent to Washington D.C. (Hyattsville, Brentwood, North Brentwood, Mt. Rainier)
The Gateway District Community Emergency Response Team will:
Educate the public on emergency preparedness
Help organize essential disaster response
Learn how to respond to man-made and natural hazards safely
Distribute emergency awareness information at community and preparedness events
CERT Training Series
The City of Hyattsville offers Community Emergency Response Team training to interested community members from the Gateway District region (Mt. Rainier, Brentwood, North Brentwood.
The next CERT Team Organizational Meeting will occur on February 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Hyattsville City Building, 4310 Gallatin Street. Anyone is welcome to attend as the Team sets the next steps for training and coordination. Register by completing the form below.
