Arcade @ 4318 Gallatin Street

About 4318 Gallatin Street

4318 Gallatin Street, affectionately known as the Mustard Building and originally known as the Arcade, is an ongoing revitalization project with the City.  Over the past several years, the City has partnered with the Hyattsville Community Development Corporation on phased rehabilitation to restore the structure as a future anchor of the Gateway Arts District.  Grant funding from the State of Maryland and Prince George’s County are supporting the project.

The site was originally the home of Pinckney Memorial Church.  The church's foundation walls and slabs are at least 125 years old.  The new structure incorporated the existing foundation.  The current building is estimated to be 90 years old, and has been used as a silent movie theater, bowling alley and early shopping mall over the years.  Today 4318 Gallatin is a contributing resource to the City’s National Register Historic District.

You can view a brief history of the project, as well as the draft floor plans for each level of the building in the presentation here.

When completed, The Arcade will become a true community resource, including the largest performing arts space in the Gateway Arts District.
