Our current crisis shouldn’t overshadow the amazing accomplishments of all those graduating this spring. So we’re throwing you a City-wide party!
Whether you are graduating high school, college, elementary school, kindergarten, whatever - join us for a socially distanced celebration the week of June 1 - June 5, 2020!
Request a “Congratulations Graduate!” yard sign or doorknob hanger, free of charge. The deadline to request a sign is end of day on Wednesday, June 3 and a member of City staff will drop off the sign by Thursday, June 4.
Send photos! Let’s see our graduates’ enthusiasm for the next stage of their journey. Submit images with names and school affiliations to email@example.com end of day on Sunday, May 31. We’ll compile images into a virtual "yearbook", shared on City social media the week of June 1st.
Share advice! Even if you don’t have a graduate in your house this year, pass along your wisdom for the graduating class. Email firstname.lastname@example.org by end of day on Sunday, May 31. Advice will be compiled and shared on City social media the week of June 1st.
Last, but not least:
Party with us! Mayor Hollingsworth, City Council members, HCPD, and City staff will caravan through the streets of Hyattsville on Friday, June 5thbetween 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Send those graduates out onto their porches and join us in cheering them on! Bonus points for house decorations, sidewalk chalk art, kazoos, etc. Download route map hereand follow a live stream of the caravan's progress on the City's Facebook (@cityofhyattsville) and Twitter (@HyattsvilleMD) accounts.
As always during this time, please be safe! We look forward to responsibly celebrating with everyone. Participants must observe social distancing rules and avoid gathering in groups larger than 10 individuals. As this is a caravan and not a parade, participants are asked to not follow the cars along the route.
If the route will not pass your home and you wish to participate, we recommend watching from one of the following public places that allow safe social distancing: Magruder Park, Hyatt Park, Edward Felegy Elementary, and Northwestern High School.
