Do I dial 911 if I need emergency or non-emergency police assistance?
You can dial 911; however, if you live in the incorporated City of Hyattsville, you can dial 301-985-5050 for an emergency and 301-985-5060 for all other police services.

How do I get a copy of a police report?
You can obtain a police report 24 hours a day/365 days a year. You need to have either a Hyattsville City Police case number, an incident number or location of incident. A police report costs $12.00 You can call 301-985-5060 if you have further questions.

How do I pay a parking citation?
Parking ctations must be paid with 15 business days or the fines will double! If you decide you want to go to court to challenge the parking citation, fill out the 'Request to Stand Trial' section located on the back of the parking citation. Next, send it to: Hyattsville City Police 4310 Gallatin Street Hyattsville, Maryland 20781. This must be done within 15 business days of the issue of the parking citation.

Who do I call for a noise complaint?
Both the Department of Code Enforcement and the City's Police Department handle noise complaints. If you need to make a noise complaint during normal business hours, 8:30am thru 5:00pm Monday thru Friday, please contact the Department of Code Enforcement at 301-985-5014. At all other times, please contact the Police Department's non-emergency number at 301-985-5060.

What do I do if I have a complaint about a rental house in Hyattsville?
The Department of Code Enforcement investigates all complaints made against rental homes pertaining to Housing or Property Maintenance Code violations. If you have a complaint or concern, please contact the Department of Code Enforcement at 301-985-5014, Monday thru Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm or contact our single-family rental inspector, Christopher Giunta, via email

Is covering an unregistered or "junked" vehicle, (as defined by the Hyattsville City Code), with a commercial car cover acceptable?
No. A junked or unregistered vehicle must be either removed from the property, properly registered and in working order, or stored within an entirely enclosed structure.

Who do I contact if I have a dispute with my landlord about my rent?
Any dispute concerning your lease should be addressed through the County's Landlord Tenant Court which is located at 4990 Rhode Island Ave, Hyattsville, MD 20781. The Landlord Tenant Court is not a part of the Hyattsville City Government.

The street light near my home is not working. What should I do?
