The cancelled August 3 Hyattsville Council meeting has been rescheduled to Monday, August 10, and the agenda and packet are now available at www.hyattsville.org/meetings.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will motion to close for approximately an hour before reopening. The meeting will be conducted entirely remotely with no in-person meeting attendance.
Public comments can be made by pre-registering for the meeting at https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_CBd2EQbNSE69JACPJdJLPA, using the e-comment feature at www.hyattsville.org/meetings (under the agenda and meeting portal link), or emailing them to firstname.lastname@example.org before 5 p.m. on August 10.
It will also be broadcasted live on cable television channels 71 (Comcast) and 12 (Verizon), and available via live stream at www.hyattsville.org/meetings.

Join us at Magruder Park every third Saturday of the month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to learn how to identify and adequately remove non-native, invasive plants from Magruder Woods. We’ll provide a set of safety guidelines and cotton work gloves. Just be sure to dress for the elements with sturdy boots or shoes, long sleeves, and long pants. Don’t forget water and sunscreen! Warning: You will get dirty and have fun, too! Please note that participation helps to satisfy the State of Maryland Student Service-Learning Requirement. City of Hyattsville residents living in townhomes, condominiums, and apartments who have bulk trash items can drop them off in either Magruder Park or at the Jefferson Street parking lot on Saturday, August 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until container capacities are reached!
FREE OF CHARGE, the City will accept mattresses, box springs, chairs, dressers, tables, room doors, grills, swings, patio furniture, cabinets, entertainment centers, bathtubs, sinks, toilets, sofas, lawnmowers with no gas inside, and empty/dry paint cans (no liquid inside cans). The City of Hyattsville is offering a free, virtual Mental Health First Aid class on Saturday, August 22 from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Mental Health First Aid teaches you to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. Learn new skills and become certified to provide initial support to someone in need and help them connect to appropriate care.
Classes are limited to 10 students so sign up today! There will be a waiting list for future sessions. Participants are required to complete two hours of online, self-paced training prior to the 5-hour instructor-led course on August 22.
