It’s your chance to Speak Up, Hyattsville!

Engaging Hyattsville’s residents and encouraging civic participation is a key goal of the City. Since not all residents have the time to attend City meetings and participate in person, the City has developed Speak Up HVL.

Speak Up HVL is the City’s new engagement tool. It is a separate web site, designed to encourage thoughtful discussions and two-way communication between residents and the City.

Speak Up HVL will also serve as a gateway to resident collaboration by allowing City officials and staff to seek public comment on proposals and ideas. Residents will also have the opportunity to submit their own ideas for community improvement.

How do I sign up?

o Signing up to participate in Speak Up HVL is easy. Go to http://speakuphvl.com/

What’s inside?

Inside Speak Up HVL you’ll find two different ways to interact with both the City and fellow residents:

Discussions are designed to solicit feedback around a specific initiative. Discussions are guided by the City, which monitors the feedback and respond as necessary. Each discussion has one or more subtopics where you can add your thoughts or respond to other residents’ comments.

The Ideas section is a free-flowing area where residents can post or share ideas on any topic. Ideas can garner votes and residents can show support for ideas they like or comment on ideas. The Ideas section can also be used to pose questions to the City.

Want to comment on a City Council agenda item but can’t make the meeting?

Also launching is eComment, which will enable citizens to comment on specific agenda items from the Internet. Comments are displayed on the website for Council and the general public to see and are entered into the official meeting record. To comment on an agenda item, go to speakuphvl.com/meetings.
