Services for Seniors and People with Disabilities

Throughout the year, the City offers numerous services, programs and events for seniors and people with disabilities. They include wellness classes and presentations, referrals to resource providers, social outings and more. Summaries of some of our recurring programs are below.

Ageless Grace

Ageless Grace is a seated exercise program for the mind and body set to energetic music. Utilizing the science of neuroplasticity, 21 simple exercise are designed to improve motor skills, brain function, and fun with your neighbors! All classes are free, and no pre-registration is necessary.
Classes are:
Wednesdays & Fridays, 10-11 AM, City Municipal Building


The City's Call-a-Bus offers seniors and people with disabilities transportation to medical appointments, pharmacies and grocery stores within a six-mile radius of the City. The bus offers curb-to-curb service from outside a resident's home to their destination. The bus is currently operating on a limited schedule of  Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The fare is $1 each way and registration is free. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. 

Hyattsville Heroes Program

The City encourages residents to help their neighbors with yard and home maintenance. For those who help neighbors who are seniors and/or have disabilities, we provide some supplies free of charge. If you're interested, or know of a helpful neighbor, please contact us. 

Arts Classes

The City offers free art classes for seniors and people with disabilities in a partnership with Art Works Now. Classes are highly engaging, and participants take home the beautiful projects they create. Seating is limited and registration is required. To register, please contact our Senior and Disability Services Coordinator.
