Bulk Trash and White Goods Pickup

Bulk Trash

Beginning June 1, 2020, bulk trash services will resume. Collections occur on the first and third Friday of each month. To request a pickup, residents can call (301) 985-5000, use the My Hyattsville mobile app, or visit www.hyattsville.org/request. Pickups must be scheduled by 3 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to the first and third Friday of each month. All requests after the cutoff will be scheduled for the following pickup day. As a reminder, below are a few of the guidelines when requesting bulk trash pickup:

  • Items must be placed curbside no earlier than 6 p.m. on the evening before pickup. Items that are left curbside more than one day prior may result in a fine and/or citation.
  • Per pickup, households are limited to no more than three cubic yards of bulk trash. For example; one mattress and box spring; one sofa; or two large chairs.
  • Construction debris, hazardous waste, and landscaping elements such as gravel, soil, or concrete edging will not be collected. Items such as these must be disposed of properly by the resident or a contractor.
  • Each address is allowed four bulk trash pickups per year.

White Goods

Beginning June 1, 2020, white good appliance pickups will resume as needed by request.

White goods include air conditioners, freezers, refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, and dishwashers.

White goods that work, building materials and some furniture that could be reused, can all be donated to Community Forklift for resale (and to prevent them from going into landfills). To schedule a free pickup, call 301-832-0781.

White goods that don't work, and tires, can be picked up by the City's Department of Public Works. Residents can schedule a free pickup here or by calling (301) 985-5000.
